Glacier View Ridge

Even though Glacier is the focal point, the Flathead and the surrounding area presents boundless activities, talk about it here.

Glacier View Ridge

Post by PeteE »

Here are more pictures from my short hike up on Glacier View ridge.
I may go again and take more later this week. It's a good place for views into the west side of Glacier National Park.
It's a bit steep, a 900ft/mile average elevation gain but well worth the effort.

Closer view. See the house? Nice digs huh? 8)

On the way up. Dead tree 8)

The snow was a pain to walk in at times so I walked to the side of it in places. Microspikes made the traction pretty easy, even on the very steep "dirt" parts.

The lack of snow is really disconcerting

Coming down. Care requied because of steepness. It wouldn't do to take a tumble. Lots of rocks and tree debris. Getting impaled on an old tree limb would be painful

I'm a "dead tree" lover too

You're welcome Jay!

Here's the video for the trip report whenever it loads. I'm going to bed,
I have another 5-6 clips of 30-50seconds each that are just scenes with no talking. The trouble is you can hear clothing rustling and me breathing and swallowing!
In the future I need to get way away from the camera and just edit the beginning. The mic is very sensitive.

Just above my finger is where I stopped this time. I didn't go far, roughly 1 1/4 miles and 1100ft up. It is steep but one can get to that outcropping in under an hour---if you don't stop too much for pictures and resting Good exercise right? 8)

Yeah that would be me.
Just an accident of timing.
Chris just missed a guy with a cute girl friend/wife and a well behaved dog coming up.
They would have made a much nicer picture. 8)
