I drove up to Logan Pass today since it was opening day. I'll probably regret it because it throws me behind for packing for the weekend.
Too nice an opening day to pass up.
The avalanche damage is just east of the Weeping Wall area,...the Triple Arches.
They'll get it fixed fairly soon I think. Held me up for 3 minutes today.
They have traffic lights and people directing traffic.
It took me 61 minutes to drive from the 4way stop at Apgar. Non stop and speed limit or under.
Once there I roamed around just a little bit down by Reynolds creek to get away from the teeming hoards of visitors
I didn't really plan this until I did it. I had my backpack in the truck for this weekend.
No sticks but did have microspikes which helped the geezer stay on his feet
A really nice day. I believe those are a form of reticular clouds forming over the Garden Wall.
Amazing how fast hey can form and grow!

Video is about 8-9 minutes
Pictures are "as is" no manipulation editing

Geezer has to be in a couple.
Into the sun looking at Mt Reynolds and the "unnamed ridge"
Clements on the right looking towards hidden Lake pass
Garden Wall. Big bare spots already where there is normally snow this early in June
Not sure what this was all about but they seemed to be having fun
The Big Horns were all over the lot and running everywhere when I returned. The sheep didn't know where to go with people and cars all over. And there was the occasional idiot chasing one to get a better picture. No Ranger presence and they really needed one today. People walking in fragile areas as well as getting too close to the sheep.
This old boy was munching on newly sprouting glacier lilies by the steps. His horns indicate he's been "around the block" more than a few times
The usual places on the beginning of the Highline are not passable yet
The north side of Haystack is still snowy as well.
Hazy look into the sun at the Livingstons with Heaven's Peak on the left
