Damn, I lost my long post.
Ok, the current chair is 6.3 lbs, 34" long by 6 inches (or less) in diameter. I consider that the upper end in size and wt of what we're looking for. We found this chair:

While comfortable, it's 9 lbs, 46" long, and it will handle a really, really fat ass, so it makes me thing there is something that could easily be designed that's better.
Ralph's chair looks
really comfortable, but it would need to be packed under everything. Also, the second use we have for chairs is for fireworks or a fire where we have to walk a while to get to the event. Don't say, "Get a bag" because we went through that with our current tent (that came without a bag... and we use an old camp chair bag). I know I won't get around to making a carrying case for a chair.
We also had some beach chairs like this:
While comfortable, they had to be packed at the bottom of everything, were eaten by squirrels, and you sat a few inches off the ground. (Hard to get in and out.)
Yup, everything has some disadvantage, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything. I'd think a smart, well made version of the current "crappy chair" would fit the bill. Something with side supports (to make the thing comfortable) and aluminum tubing (to make it light).
Ok Jay, post before it's gone...
