Spot mountain (2 Medicine ridge ramble)

Post by trevbo »

Here are a few photos from Spot Mountain today. Parked at the Two Med. park entrance and followed the Dry Fork trail before going offtrail and bushwhacking towards the open ridge.

Moose!

Weather was nice before it got quite ugly... warm enough for t-shirts in the morning, then it got so cold in the PM that I lost feeling in hands for a bit, even though I was wearing leather gloves!

Snow is disappearing from ridge tops in the foothills

Still lots of snow just a bit further west (this is Red Mountain)

Great day for ridge rambling, despite the swing in the weather (started to snow just a bit)

Excellent Trevor!
I bet that was fun except for the bit about your hands.
Thanks

A couple more pics from yesterday. Spring is definitely here!

Crocuses are out.

Glacier lilies too. You can eat the bulbs... used to be a food source for the local tribes - I think they would eat them both raw or cooked though I would probably prefer to eat them cooked (bears would surely disagree).

Speaking of bears, did not see any tracks or scat yesterday but when we got back to the trail in the afternoon we saw a number of trees that had gotten freshly scratched up that we hadn't noticed in the morning, almost looked like someone had taken a Rambo knife and decided to peel off the bark.

Also a note on access to Two Med: access is via East Glacier... if you try to take the Looking Glass Road from the other direction it won't work out (ie Looking Glass road off the 89 coming from Browning is still blocked off).
