In my opinion this was not a rescue. No one was injured. This "extraction" was done because the "hikers" were unprepared and unwilling to accept the consequences of that. I've been caught late a few times and spent some cold nights on a ledge or slope in the mountains. Being uninjured I accepted the fact that I would suffer some because of my tardiness.

What a thorough article and quite fascinating. A lot of parts coming together for this Search and Rescue team over the years. Very impressive I would say.

Yeah, it sounds like they were not prepared and then didn't just deal with the consequences by hiking out in the dark or turning around before it got too dark.
