Re: Shuttles from Chief Mountain Customs to East Glacier

Do they just support trips on the east side of the park? I think they are just on the east side, yea.... I think that's correct.... Yea... I'd second Teapot on that.... You get a ride, and you get to learn some stuff while you're at it... I enjoyed hearing about the buffalo reintroduction program. ...

Re: Shuttles from Chief Mountain Customs to East Glacier

You bet. 👍. We’ve used them a handful of times and have had good luck with them overall. I think one time they were a little late due to roadwork delays if I recall but that’s a bit unavoidable and even that time wasn’t bad. But yea. I suppose as with any service, one’s mileage may vary. 👍 Cheers! K...

Re: Shuttles from Chief Mountain Customs to East Glacier

Hey Paul.... I'm uncertain on those specific shuttles, but I can say we have taken Backpackers Ferry from Swiftcurrent Lodge to the Belly River Trailhead right next to the Chief Mountain Customs. Just a short walk from there. We've also been picked up in East Glacier by Backpackers Ferry as well. I ...

Hey there Gene.... Right on! There's a lot of great information provided by a lot of great people here over the years. And there's some new features in the works as well. Slow but sure.. Yea.. Hockey Ref's FAQ on the park is an excellent source of info on the park! The FAQ link at the to...

I'm looking for a(some) hiking partner(s) for one or more day hike(s) in GNP mid to late August 2024. I'm arriving in West Glacier August 16 and will be Hi Eldpa.... Welcome to Glacier Park Chat! There will be a group of us from here near your time, but I'm afraid we'll be a week late and mostly ne...

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

I haven’t followed the permit process. Is it essentially 100% reservable now? I would think that would put a crimp on the through hikers that didn’t get a permit (or one that fits their goals). Jay At the moment, the lottery winners get to pick based on their time slots that they were awarded for t...

Re: General site updates

Email Notification Templates The email engine got a bit of an update to better support custom email templates. I kinda hated to edit their default templates and lose the edits in an update, so fingers crossed, we should be ok there now. There are a bunch of individual templates for emails that can ...

Hey gang.... Trip Dates I was reminded that the Trip Dates forum category used to be visible only to logged in users. It is now that way again. Thanks for pointing that out! Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Did the Trip Dates forum category posts used to get erased each year when it's category name got reset to whatever the current year was? I recall it working this way. And I believe the forum was only viewable if you were logged in as a user. Ahh.... Right on.... Thanks T. Trip Dates should be back ...

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Turning towards productive thoughts, one I had was the ability for chatters to add their upcoming (and past) hikes to a list. Initial thought was to give visibility to opportunity to cross paths for a hike or beer or whatever. But thinking further on it, could also be a bulletin board for 3rd wheel...

Re: Glacier Conservancy chat with Many Glacier Hotel winter caretaker Feb 28

If you missed the Glacier Conservancy chat with Many Glacier Hotel Winter Caretaker Josh Hurley when it was live, you can catch it now as they have it posted on YouTube now. I thought it was interesting to hear him talk a little bit about his experience. Other Glacier Conservancy conversations can b...

Re: General site updates

Hi gang.... I have updated and re-deployed the Post Local Storage extension with some updates so your pre-submitted posts and PM's should be able to survive a session expiration or a browser closure while typing or submitting now. It should be a little more robust to handle Preview better as well. N...

Arizona Meetup - Flagstaff - April 25

Hey gang. There’s a few of us chatters that will be hiking the Grand Canyon this spring and we’ll be stopping off in Flagstaff for what will hopefully be a celebratory night of being glad that we survived a few nights in the Grand Canyon on the night of April 25th . If you are in the area, let us kn...
